How Individual Coaching Works

coaching format most often uses questions, exercises,
and assessment tools to look under the surface
of issues to discover the beliefs and motives
that govern them. |

Often, by examining and questioning the underlying
beliefs, insights can be drawn that will assist the
client in overcoming obstacles to reaching their goals.
Individual coaching sessions are conducted on a one-to-one
basis. Every client is a unique and valued person,
and is treated with honor, respect, confidentiality,
and compassion. Kerul will utilize only those directions,
tools, and assessments that fit for that individual,
based on their stated objectives, needs, and personalities.
Each coaching appointment is preceded by a Client
Weekly Focus prepared by the client and emailed or
faxed to Kerul. Interim progress is tracked regularly.
In this way, effective and efficient improvement can
be ensured.
Generally, coaching appointments are scheduled at
regular, agreed upon times once a week for the first
three weeks of every month. All appointments are by
telephone. The cost for personal coaching depends
upon the length and frequency of these coaching sessions.
Currently appointments are set based on the following
time intervals:
3 Half-hour appointments per month
3 1-hour appointments per month
2 Half-hour appointments per month
2 1-hour appointments per month
Coaching by phone is remarkably effective. The setting
facilitates direct, honest communication without the
distractions of face-to-face interaction. Clients
find that they are more focused and ready to work
in order to use their appointment time most effectively.
An incredible amount of progress can be made in a
short period of time if clients are dedicated to their
goals.
So that we can create a trusting environment, a personal
coach does require certain elements to be present
in the client-coach relationship:
The whole story. In order for you to
get the maximum benefit from our relationship
it is important you tell me the whole situation,
not just part of it. I canĖt help you unless I
can fully understand your situation.
Accountability. Because you are in this
process to reach personal goals, you must be thoroughly
committed to the process. My goal is not to fight
or nag, but to still hold you accountable in a
supportive way.
Forthcomingness. Just as I will continue
to ask for shifts and actions that will take you
out of your comfort zone, I expect that you will
keep me informed if I do anything that doesnĖt
work for you or that you find offensive or distasteful
in any way.
